About Von Ahnen Racing
Alan and David Von Ahnen started drag racing during their teenage
years. They participated in various bracket racing and local Ford
Motorsport Events. What started as a couple races per year has
escalated to a serious hobby. Their love of the drag racing sport has
allowed them to follow their dream and race competitively in the
NMCA.
In 2003 the NMCA, introduced the Mean Street Class, after reviewing the
rules and attending several races, talking to other racers in the class.
They decided to get involved and build their car to compete.
After upgrading both the car and engine in 2004, they ran a limited
schedule in 2005, gaining a great deal of experience and knowledge of what
it takes to compete on a national level. The team finished #8 in the
points for the season.
In 2006 they focused on making the car work efficiently and refining
the engine combination. The team continued to show improvement and
at the last race they qualified #3 and ran within .10 of the #1 qualifier.
They finished #4 in the points for the season. Satisfied with their
progress, they looked forward to the 2007 racing season.
Taking all of the data from the previous years, the team set out to
build a more competitive engine for the 2007 season. However, due to
time and monetary constraints they were unable to obtain that goal, which
left them with no alternative other than to run their existing
combination. At the first race in Florida they went to the final
round and finished as the runner-up. They proved their determination
by making it to the semi-finals in the other races, the team finished #4
in the points for the 2007 season.
